Through a partnership with local mason bee expert Missy Anderson, Urban Bee Company will provide you with mason bee installation and management. You can do-it-yourself via Missy, or you can have us handle it for you.
What You Get
By hosting mason bees, you get pollination for your garden and educational opportunities by having bees (and beekeepers) in your yard. It’s a great way to learn about and support healthy bee populations.
You’ll get enough mason bees to pollinate your property, including delivery, installation, and removal at the end of the season. You also get a site visit to assess the viability of your property (including vegetation) for mason bees.
What It Costs
For homeowners: The cost is $100, which includes site visit/assessment, delivery and installation of bees, and removal of bees. (Requires a pre-visit questionnaire.)
For schools, community gardens, and parks, restaurants, businesses, and farms: We can customize solutions for any interested party. We love collaborations and interesting projects; let us know what you have in mind!
Timeline
Site visits generally happen in January and February. Mason bees get installed sometime in April, depending on the weather. The bees are done for the season by mid-summer, when we take them away.
